Center for Advanced Signal and Image Sciences (CASIS)
Workshops
CASIS annual workshops are a one-of-a-kind window into the cutting-edge signal and image science work at LLNL and beyond. By bringing together Lab experts with leaders in academia, industry, and government, the workshop makes it easy for researchers of all levels to learn about the latest technical advances, share resources, make connections, and spark collaborations.

29th Annual Workshop
May 21-22, 2025
LLNL’s 29th annual CASIS workshop will be hosted May 21-22 from at the University of California Livermore Collaboration Center (UCLCC). The two-day event features seven main tracks covering topics ranging from quantum sensing to multiphysics simulations and advanced manufacturing, in addition to parallel tutorial, mini-workshops and, a student track to introduce career opportunities at LLNL. To attend, register by May 15. To present your work, submit abstracts by April 18..
Why attend?
Attend a CASIS workshop to share your work, learn something new, or make connections that could last a career. Registration is free for all and lunch is provided.
A window into the Lab
The Lab is always interested in forging new collaborations to bring in expertise for its national security mission. LLNL is an international leader in signal and image science in areas like computer engineering and simulations, lasers and optics, non-destructive evaluation, bioengineering, and more. CASIS workshops make this expertise accessible in a collegial environment to stimulate discussions across industries, organizations, disciplines, and application areas.
Something for everyone
With an engaging series of lectures and posters, keynote talks from leading experts, training on essential software tools, and ample opportunities for discussion, the event offers something for everyone. Attendees range from LLNL PIs looking for new collaborators to students looking to build a professional network, to senior researchers from industry and academia looking to stay current, and everything in between.
Engage with the community
The workshop is the longest continually running event of its kind at LLNL and has kept the community at the cutting edge since 1994. Past workshops have featured keynote talks, presentations, and posters from visionaries in the field and covered topics like non-destructive evaluation, quantum computing, remote and non-invasive sensing, optics, and nuclear fusion ignition.
The event also builds on longstanding relationships with local communities, such as the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the IEEE Computer Society.
